I hope I never have to say goodbye
to the moon,
who lit up my car;
to the candle,
that burnt my hands;
to the man,
who saw me grow;
to the leaf
on which I ate on that vacation;
to the dog,
who barked in a routine, but my routine did not end in fear;
to the friend,
who shared life with me;
to the maid,
who wanted me to stay still;
to the wife,
who wanted me to roam and explore;
to the mosque,
that never said “you leave”;
to the church,
that never said “you cry”;
to the temple,
that never said “you stop”;
and to the gurudwara, who never says, “You forget”.
To the sky, who always looks down at me,
while I look up at it;
to the stars,
who are huge,
but don’t exaggerate their position;
to my soul, that never says, “I quit!”
